Easy DIY End Table Tutorial
I am creating a small space (a corner) in my bedroom to read, so I removed the armoire from the corner of the room. (It made it as far as the hallway as it is so heavy, I am having to take it apart in order to get it downstairs! Ugh!!!) Mr Man helped me, by hanging the TV on the wall, and I started looking for a side end table for the chair I was going to use.
While looking for an end table I came across a pouf and pillow that will look great in the room with the new color of paint that I have selected.
I searched everywhere! Is it me? or is furniture way, way, way overpriced?! While I was in #Target I thought I would see what they had. I was thinking affordable. Oh my! They had one made with a tray table on top and it cost $59.99. REALLY?!
Yup, it irritated me.
Certainly, I can make one for a lot less money and have it look nicer.
(Sorry #Target! I love you but not your end tables)
I found a tray and set about figuring out plan.
I took the measurement of the tray (2 inches in height) and deducted it from the height I wanted to make the table.
That means I needed, 4 – 2×2’s at 19 inches high.
I used 8 – 1″ x 1/4″ for the sides.
I attached them around the sides with 1 inch screws.
(4 At the top and 4 a couple inches from the bottom)
Sometimes, I like to work down stairs watching a movie on TV while I work.
I get to hang out by the Playhouse too 😉
One coat of primer, one coat of white glossy paint, and it is ready to attach to the tray.
I used a small amount of Power Grab to the top of the 2×2’s before setting the tray on top.
Just a quick comparison …
Really, a quick and easy project! and now I can enjoy it, right next to my chair!
I think I am going to kick back, and enjoy reading my book.
Have a great Monday!
