“Where have you been?!”
I took an unexpected 2 week trip to San Francisco, CA. It started with a phone call in the middle of my work day and my heart dropped with the news … My father was being taken to the hospital in an ambulance and he was having trouble breathing. I instantly called Mr Man to book me a one way ticket into San Francisco as they were air lifting my dad to California Pacific Medical Center. It turns out he had had a stroke. He was on life support but the doctors all seemed to think that he would improve. He had a trach placed and was being fed through a peg tube directly into his stomach. I stayed there and before returning home I made sure that mom was back home and that dad would be transferred closer to her when he could travel.
I was home for a short time when I got the call that not only was my mom in the hospital with symptoms of a heart attack but my fathers trach was failing. I flew out to California again and stayed with my dad around the clock. I was with him when he passed into heaven on September 25, 2012. It was the hardest thing that I have ever had to see but I am so blessed to have been the one there, holding his hand. This past week after the funeral, I stayed to help mom get things in order and to see the cardiologist. She was given a stress test and passed it, although the cardiologist is keeping an eye on her and I will be forever grateful that he is!
I say all this … to let you know why I have not been blogging and to ask your patience as I try to find my way back into blogging. I am going to try to get back into the routine of things as my heart heals from my loss.
